Global Comparative Study on Wage Fixing Institutions and their Impacts in Major Garment Producing Countries
This global comparative study provides an
overview of wage-fixing institutions, including minimum wages and
collective bargaining, in ten garment-producing countries around the
world.
The primary
purpose of this comparative report is to review the role of minimum wage
and collective bargaining institutions and their effects in a sample of
major garment or textile producing countries. Part 1 of the report
describes the institutional context of ten countries and Part 2 analyses
the detailed character of policy and practice in the garment industry
in seven of the ten countries. As well as international research and
publicly available data from ILOSTAT and the World Bank, the report’s
authors also draw on eight National Reports commissioned by the ILO. The
report seeks to enhance ILO capacity for policy advice to support
constituents in developing a more inclusive wage and collective
bargaining policy.
