Sharing good practices – leading the way towards sustainability
The programme “Social and Labor Standards in the Textiles and Garment Sector in Asia (SLSG)”, together with Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) jointly organized the Round Table on sustainable textile production in Asian textile producing countries in Yangon, Myanmar on 23 May.
Sharing good practices is an excellent way to tackle challenges in the textile and garment industry in Asia. It aims at enabling mutual learning and inspiring enterprises to proactively address challenges in textile and garment production. Further, it will present the Asian region as a reliable partner in textile and garments production to a re-branding of the sector. Sharing good practices will inspire factory owners, management and workers being proactive in addressing the challenges of sustainability standards as well learn from each other.
The good practices at the factory level respectively on occupational health and safety (OHS), building and fire safety, supporting/promoting female workers, environmental protection and social dialogue between management and workers from the SLSG pilot countries Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Myanmar and Pakistan have been shared during the Round Table.
